I'm relatively new to utilizing Active Directory and administering a domain. I have a group of computers in a lab for students that I want to keep secure and allow different groups of students different priveleges on the network and workstations. Currently, all of the students log in using the same username and profile on our Win 2K server (all of the workstations are Win XP). Loading the profile on a machine can take from 5 - 30 minutes, depending on how many are logging in at that time.

To remedy this, I'm attempting to create multiple accounts according to the age group the kids are in. The first login I created and placed in an organizational unit looks good on the server - however, when attempting to login as that account on the workstations the login attempt comes back and says that the profile could not be loaded, etc. etc.

I really need to find a way to solve these problems and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Almost sound like you are using roaming profiles over a slow link. Are you attempting to login over a WAN? If so, you may need to throttle the slow link definition in group policy.
