I have BE 9.1 on a stand alone media server with a lot hard disk storage, and 2 backup jobs. one job does a full backup a W2K3 DC using the open file option(backup size 5-6GB), and the other does a full W2K3/Exchange2K3 backup using the open file and exchange agent (backup size 3-4GB). I use backup-to-disk folders exclusively (each job goes to a seperate disk), and those folders are located on local media server hard disks. I have basic media sets for each job, with overite protec period=1 hours and infinite=allow append set. This is a new setup, but has worked for several weeks, and all of the sudden has begun to hang at the "Loading Media" phase (is has currently been sitting at that staus for about 18 hours). the only problem i can find is that when i try to create a new job for the exchange server, i get a notice saying my user account doesnt have access to the mailboxes. I provided the enterprise admin account at the beginning, have no problem getting into the server with that account, and that account worked several days ago.

what could have happened? nothing changed on the mail server to block access that i know of. nothing happpened to the media server that i know of either.

Help!!!

hmmm.

I would check your backup-to-disk folders and make sure that you have not run out of space.

As for access to exchange:
1) Check your Backup Exec logon accounts - make sure an account that can access the mailboxes is there.
2) When selecting the exchange server in the selection list right click and choose "connect as" then choose the appropriate account.

Keep us posted.

Cheers

Well, i got the dc to backup. The issue there was it was asking me to OK the overwrite in the alert list. I did that and it backed up. Somehow, i must have inadvertantly changed the setting for that. However, now the big issue is the exchange. I did as suggested above, and it just lets me select the system logon account, which is the ent admin. I even created a new systme logn account, and used the enterprise admin logon, and it says access is denied on that as well. I restarted the exchange server, restarted the media server....what next?

thanks for the help.

Also, the enterprise admin has no problem connecting to the root drives of the exchange server through BE. i just cant logon as for mailboxes, public stores, information store, or shadow copy components.

Well I figured it out...all without that dreaded call to Veritas!

I was not able to attach to the stores and such because my system account in veritas, which was linked to the Ent admin account, was not listed in the global address list. Go figure!

As if i would want admin accounts listed. So after i get a good backup, i will be creating a new backup account.

thanks for the help.
