Ive accidentally deleted the firmware on my D-link DSL-504 router. Ive dowloaded the firmware upgrade and found the files that i need to load, but i do not know the correct syntax in the console. There is a command &quot;enter&quot; which allows u to enter an image and the syntax is &quot;enter <address>&quot;. does this refer to a file's addres or what?please help me!

It may be referring to the address of your tftp server. This is the app which will be running on your system to &quot;serve&quot; the file to your router. The address of your tftp server will just be your computers static address. Just give your box something like 10.0.0.2 and give your router 10.0.0.1 and both on same subnet. Then you should be able to send/get the file onto your router.

yeah, thanks, ill try that, only problem is, the modem doesnt have an ip, cause i deleted the firmware, the only way i can connect to it is through the console. i need to load the firmware on so i can change the ip, so i can set it up properly (and not screw it over again). Thanks for the suggestion though

Normally the two ways to do this would be either TFTP and even without the IOS, you still key in an IP address OR you can upload the firmware via the console cable using x-modem which is VERY slow but it does work.

I am guessing that the *enter* command you described has a default IP address and needs to know the TFTP server IP where the image is at. That would make the most sense.

Good luck
