Has anyone set up network load balancing on 2 nic cards through Windows 2003? I have tried everything and I can't seem to get it too work.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

I actually do mean 2 NIC's in 1 computer. Am I off and could it not be done?

gerbieIT,

Network Load Balancing usually refers to creating a cluster of two or more computers that balance the "load" of whatever function they perform.

What exact problem are you attempting to solve with 2 nics in the same computer?

Having 2 NICs working in load balancing mode or fault tolerant mode is a function of the NIC drivers not Windows (normally referred to as adapter teaming to avoid the confusion with Windows NLB/clustering). Broadcom and Intel server NICs support it that I know of, I'm sure other vendor cards do to but you need to check with the vendor of the cards you have.

gerbieIT...

what you are wanting to do, i imagine, is bridging the two NICs to one virtual NIC on the same LAN, is that right?
this is not NLB..

NLB is 2 PCs appearing as one to provide fault tolerance for certain services...

The term you need to reserch is TEAMING or NIC TEAMING, I've include an article from HP, but most supplier have this option.

If you have the chance to setup a test rig, start by using a HUB, move on to switches once you understand how to set it up, as configuring it on siwtch can be far more complex due to the advance features available.

Hope that puts you on the right path
