.lnk file association problem

Hi,

I have a customer that tried to fix something she can't really explain to me unfortunately. What she was able to explain was that she did was associate .lnk files to explorer.exe. using folder options/file types. Now when you click on a desktop shortcut the OS wants to "download" the .lnk file to the HD. I used the prescribed method of restoring the registry entries for the .lnk extension to no avail. If anyone can offer assistance I would really appreciate it!

Problem Solved! I opened file types, added the .lnk association and then deleted the association to explorer.exe.
