i'm am trying to my mail server vai a vnp connection.
Everything i try and connect to my mail server, i get a message saying my exchange server is unavailable...I can ping this machine but can get access to it. people tell me that i need to configure my lmhost file but i'm not sure how to do that. can someone help me out?

Thanks

just search for lmhosts and it should be drilled down below the \winnt\system32\drivers\etc, and it has some good examples of how to configure it. It basically just statically maps a NETBios name to an IP address...same as WINS server. You may also want to configure the hosts file as well, which maps an IP to a FQDN. Good luck...and be sure when you edit the files that they remain just "lmhosts" and "hosts" with no extension or they won't work.
