Hi

We have Laserjet 4000 which has some thin paper jammed under the toner.

It seems to be jammed at both ends of the page.

I am off site and have tried to explain how to fix this to staff but i believe it to be worse than I expected.

Usually i will just be confident and pull the paper out firmly but the paper in this circumstance has started to tear.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
B

Have you removed the cartridge ?

Hi Rick

Yes we removed the toner and it was jammed under there.

But it turned out that whilst they were away someone else wanted to print so they put the toner in shut the lit and the paper run through the printer.

Thanks anyway

B

You will most likely have to have someone dismantle the printer and take off the Tray 1 Pickup Assemby if the jam is as bad as I'm thinking. If you need a service manual with instructions, I'm sure there are numerous places where you can get those. I have a rather large collection of manuals, simply because I work on these printers, and it's always nice to have when you get an error code you're not familiar with.

ok.. dont spread this around.. but my secret wepon with clearing print jams is a butter spreading knife... its a long flat utencil that you can easily bend and shove out those small pieces of paper without having to tear down the printer...

..this evolved from initially using a pci spacer plate that I could bend into shape to clear print jams.. but a long butter spreading knife or even better a cake frosting spreader would work great...

I know this doesnt help them off site.. but .. a lil tip for the future... *shrug*

Good tip on the butter knife. You could clean the pu rollers with alcohol&a lint free cloth. Then apply some rubber lune/enhancer(makes the rubber/silicone pliable). Use sparingly. I have also used a fine grade sandpaper to rough up the surface. Be judicious if you use these tips. You can make a bad situation worse.
