I need to know which is the row in the .config file that enables support for the SATA hard disks of my desktop and for the USB external HDD & flashdisk.

You DON'T edit a .config file directly unless you know what you are doing. You're in for a boat load of nasty dependency issues otherwise. Whats wrong with make menuconfig? BTW, if this kernel episode is a continuation of an earlier thread, you really shouldn't start another one.
