I am thinking about switching the desktops in our office to Linux to save costs. Does anyone know a good side by side comparison of the to Desktop OSes, or can anyone provide input of the pros and cons of doing this?
Thanks in advance. Says the Manager to the person that invented the modem: "Tell me again why you need two prototypes?!?"

LINUX:
Stronger, Less likely to crash. Easier for programming.

Windows:
More user friendly, Easier to install and configure (For novices), MORE application support.

What are you trying to accomplish? LINUX is strong but has little application support and you need techs who know how to configure tha hardware for it. Windows Though not as strong, has a larger application support than LINUX. It is also Much easier to configure for weak techs. James Collins

You might want to spend some time in the Linux (client/desktop) forum, rather than here. We actually discussed a very similar topic in thread619-101994

A search elsewhere would be beneficial also. There was a link on Slashdot recently to an article about a city government in Florida(?) running Linux instead of Windows...and saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in so doing!
