Hi, have implemented at a site

With the standard windows based voicemail pro, access is easy to the voicemail account folders. However so far can only access the linux folders through filezilla or the like.

Is there any way a share can be set on a specific folder, which you could place on a standard windows users desktop so that access to the files is simply a double click on a folder instead of having to log in etc?

What version do you use?

you can manage many things with the vm pro console. however there is a decent thread discussing a similar thing.

Do this:

Downlaod this file ->
Then put this file in the folder /var/cache/avaya/apps
Then goto Goto updates and search for windows sharing.
Install it.
reboot the server.

Then use a SSH client and login to the server.
Use this credentials

webcontrol
web

Then type admin
Enter Administrator as password
then type configure
Enter Configure as password.
Type sharing
Type enalbe
Type create share vmpro /opt/vmpro
type create user username
Enter the password and permissions.

tlpeter, thanks once done how do I access the share?

standard windows \\ipaddress ?

Yes, with the explorer \\ipaddress
When it works with the credentials you entered then you could do: remove user username so that everybody has access.

just logged on the servers web access, within the updates section there is no option to search/install the windows sharing

Did you copy the rpm to the apps folder?
All the vmpro rpm's are there too.

tlpeter, whilst I have you

this same company are utilising the ip office backup feature

they use voicemail pro for recieving orders to a mailbox at night, these are then copied to email

They have reported that certain messages are not coming through the phone but are being emailed.

Just checking both pc's now, the main centralized voicemail has the bulk of the messages in its mailbox folder, the backup one has a selection no where near as big (maybe the missing voicemails)

it was my presumption that the backup regulary takes files from the main including all the wavs. However we are talking 500 or so in an evening. Do you know enough about how these 2 pc's work, to indicate where the problem could be?

Its my understanding that if the backup pc is required and takes over the main role, u have to manually stop its service for the main one to take up main role again - it doesnt do it automatically!? therefore the backup has never become main server as we have never restarted (if that makes sense)

systems been in a couple of weeks now, and the backup stopped taking wavs from the folder on the 9th june, something doesnt quite add up!!!???

Help!!!

I know that there are some issues with the voicemail backup.
It is done with SMTP.
Use the debug option to see what happens.
You will see the STMP issue if they are there.

i have disabled for the time being

however logging onto the server through filezilla and monitoring the mailbox, even though the emails do come through on test calls, not all messages appear in this folder, and watching on system status the new messages in the mailbox doesnt seem to increase, there are currently 254 in there, do they have a limit through phones??

I think there is indeed a limit of 254 messages in a single user mailbox.
You should try a forward to email instead of a copy.

just logged onto the voicemail client

in here it shows the exact amount of messages in the mailbox, 366, so maybe you can have more, or maybe it somehow queues until messages have been taken off. But system status never increases above 254!?

do you know why, if I leave a test message, the linux folder takes a long time to update? I was wrong when I said the messages were missing, they do come through eventually but not immediate. Whether this is an issue with filezilla and updating itself, though i have logged out and back in but still not updated, an hour later it had!?
