I have a dual boot machine, Mandrake 10 and Windows 2000. I have been trying to get Apache from the Linux side to work on the Windows partition so that when I switch to Windows(because my work requires that I need to do that sometimes) I can keep my web sites up without having 2 copies of them. When I do this I get "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server.". I have tried changing the owner to nobody and the group to nogroup on the mount, but still get the forbidden error.

When you boot to another Operating System (like Windows), the first Operating System (like Linux) is no longer running. Therefore, any applications for the no longer running OS will also not be running.

zrefugee,

smah is correct, but you do have options in Windows 2000. There is a binary package for Apache 1.3 and 2.0 that will install on Windows, or you could use IIS, which is on the Windows 2000 install CD.

One thing that you will probably need to give some thought to is that webservers are only functional when they are running. You'll need to have one operating system or the other up and running for anyone to be able to access your webserver, whichever one you use.
