Hey All,

gcollier mentioned in another thread that telnet was enabled on his OpenRG based router. I have a WRV54g that I really want to enable telnet on. It was enabled in the first version of the firmware, but has been disabled since then.

I've tried messing with the OpenRG config file but have not yet been successful.

Gcollier, any way you could snip out the 'telnets' stuff from your OpenRG config file and paste here?

Thanks!

Adam,

Unfortunately the config file on my RV082 is compiled and ins't readable, at least not through notepad. Let me see what I can come up with and I'll post back soon.

Greg,

Thanks alot. I may try something else as well:

The WRV54g original firmware (2.03 I think) had telnet enabled, and I was able to get a shell, upload new executables, etc. But it did NOT have config file save/upload, so I couldn't get an example of the telnet section of the config file when enabled.

Linksys recommends doing a 'restore factory defaults' after every firmware update. So what I'm planning to try is, downgrade to 2.03, upgrade to the next version and save off the config file BEFORE doing the factory defaults thing. I'm hoping this might give me the telnet section I'm looking for.

Anyway, any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Adam,

Sounds like a plan. Do me a favor and post back the config info for other users.
