Hi,

I've setup a couple of Cable/DSL Linksys wireless Access Point/Routers (BEFW11P1) now and find them to be unreliable. Quite frequently I need to power them down and back on to resume service and wondered if anyone else had any similar experiences or advice? When service drops I am no longer able to ping the router or other machines on the network. The only fix is a restart which is a bit of a pain to say the least. I know there are issues of this kind with early versions of firmware but I've got 1104 on both of them which is supposed to resolve this.

For info they have 128bit WEP enabled, DHCP and PPoE.

I have used their WAP11 for several applications, and after my last experience, it will be the last.
Basically, across 2 different hardware/software levels had 3 in a row bad.
Suspect they might be weighing them for final inspection. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

I have used them in roughly 10 instances with many diffrent configurations, hardware and software, as well as antennas and can say that I have experianced some outages and had to reset the router, but it isn't that often. The problems I have seem very wide in scope with some being more problematic than others. It could be line quality, ISP, fault tolerance on the Public Network or Linksys gear..... In some causes I never hear from end users, on the other hand I hear from other users on a weekly basis. Overall I can't prove that it's the Linksys Router other than saying the router may be finikey and like a certain signal characteristic over another. Worldcom UUnet and a Local ISP Stargate seem very reliable with Linksys, Adelphia and AT&T leave much to be desired when using the same hardware. Again this is just my experiance thus far of working the most recent wireless devices.
