This question was posted earlier with less information in the "Linksys befsr 41 router with PPTP (VPN)" thread under a visitor name. Sorry if that's a problem... I'm new at this.
The problem I'm having is that one PC on the new net that I am setting up connects to a VPN but drops the connection after 1-2 minutes during binary file transfers (only?). I have configured the router as 167.x.x.1 and it obtains its WAN IP automatically ok. Most of the computers on the net have static IPs on the 167.x.x.x, but the one having the problem gets a dynamic address, usually 167.x.x.101. None of the LAN IPs are in conflict.
I have the router configured to enable "Block WAN request", IPSec Pass Through" and "PPTP Pass Through" and to disable "Remote Management" and "Remote Upgrade". Only one forward is installed; service port 1723 to the router, 167.x.x.1. The firmware version says "v0.2c6", which seems odd to me... I would have expected 1.xx. The router is brand new.
This was the only active VPN connection. Other functions seem to work OK (remote mount of disks, remote mail, etc.) and they stay up all morning, at least. So far only transfer of a 4Mb exe file kills the connection, every time, after about 1.5-2 Mb transferred. I can't say if it is the same byte every time or not, but I don't think so.
