Here's my problem, hopefully someone can spot some possible solutions fairly quickly...
Starting Configuration: Existing network consisting of around 30 workstations connected via a hub. The server has two NICs - one connected to the hub, the other to a DSL modem with dynamic IP from telco. The server has Microsoft Proxy Server running to allow the workstations access to the internet. The server and all workstations have static IP addresses.
New Configuration: DSL upgraded to static IP. DSL modem disconnected from server and attached to a new BEFVP41 which is attached to the hub - this is being used for VPN. A couple of workstations have been switched to DHCP (presumably grabbing info from the BEFVP41), but most remain static.
The Problem: Sometime at night after everyone goes home, the workstations (static and DHCP) lose connectivity to the internet - LAN connectivity remains solid. The server seems to still be able to access it. Rebooting the server fixes the problem.
My Question(s): Could all of the workstations still be using the proxy server? Even the ones that were switched to DHCP? Why would this happen only at night and why would the server still have connection?
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.
