Linking

Hi all,
This is a very basic problem but at the mo' I am teaching myself Access .My trouble is that I have linked a table to a file in Excell,this table is related to a query.When I update the Excell file the table is updated but the related info is not passed on to the query. I tried importing the file and then updating the resultant table and this updates the query i.e. it works but this is not the way I want to do it,I want to use linking,
any help?

Did you "Link" it or "Import" it.
do this:
In Access click the "Tables" tab
then right click in the white space.
make sure you click "Link..." not "Import".
Import just makes a copy of it which does not update.
