I have a field that matches in both my sub report and main report. The subreport has another field that I want to match to the main report. I.e. I want my main report to look up the field in the sub report an put the other field next to it.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure I fully understand what you have in mind but if the need is to display in the main report a value from the subreport, you need to use a SHARED (not global) variable.

You can read abouth shared variables in Crystal's online help.

scottpdann, are you trying to make the subreport use a value from the main report? Or pass back a value for the subreport so that the main report can use it? Or both?

As IdoMillet says, shared variables are the way to pass data from the subreport back to the main report. But note that you can only use this value in sections below the section that has the subreport.

For passing data to the subreport, use [Subreport Links] under Edit. Note that the subreport will be given an automatic selection in its record selection formual, whenever you make such a link.
