Linking Access Database to website

I am currently working on a project through a consulting company - my deadline for the project is the 31st of this month. I was approached by a employee of the company yesterday before I left for the day who wanted me to look into how we could link an access database to the website (which I am working on). She would like to be able to update the database and have the information populate a page in the website. That way they would only have to update one item and not the 10 items they have to now. I think this is a great idea but I have no idea where to start. I am a web developer who is just beginning her career and haven't done anything with databases before.

Can someone please give me some direction on this?

Thanks.

Basically, you're looking at developing an asp site rather than a basic HTML site. You need to determine what they want to be able to update. Since you don't do asp, ti may take a while to develop (the 31st may arrive too soon). The asp formum is very helpful (forum333). Get the Best Answers! faq333-2924

Hi,
It sounds like you have a similar situation to me. A boss with a bad case of the new Ideas!
What you want to do isn't particularly difficult. You will need to have asp (Active Server Pages) installed on your internet server, it's default on IIS I think. You will then need to learn ASP/VBScript. I suggest you look at sites like 4guysfromrolla.com or aspalliance.com for tutorials and examples.
One of the things you need to consider is the amount of use the site will get. An access database as a web database is fine for lite use, but start giving it a lot of hammer & you may find that things start to creak and groan.
Good luck with your project, let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your help. After careful consideration, I decided that I really don't have the time to develop this site right now. My main objective for the project was to re-organize the site so the company could have something user friendly. This is for the most part accomplished. Just need to write updating procedures and the like. But the 31st is right around the corner and I don't know ASP at all. It would be one thing if my contract was getting extended but that already happened once and I don't think it will happen again.

I will definetly consider this for the future though. I told the lady I spoke with that I would like to do it but unfortunately I didn't have the time to devote to it this close to a deadline. She was very understanding about it.

Thanks again. When I get some down time I am definetly learning some ASP.
