This doesn't work. You can write code to check the links and if they are broken, change the "Connect" property to a value based on the CurrentProject.Path.

Do you mean just using FILE+GET EXTERNAL DATA + LINK TABLE....? If so, just type in the server and share name in the "File Path" box on the explorer browser window, i.e.
\\nss-01-hrt\databases\
then hit the LINK button and browse as usual to your db.
