IPO 406v2 - 4.2.4 and IPO 500v2 7.0.5

Both have SIP licences
What would I need to link them together - so I can continue to dial an extension number rather than DDI?

(oh - a BP would probably be a good start - but they tend to start offering upgrades and licences ... £££ !!!)

all you need is a networking license on the IP500 and upgrade the 406 to R6 (another license) then you can SCN them together with h.323
Yes it costs money but you know how it is with free stuff it is worth exactly what you pay for.
With the SCN you have no issues connecting them, don't have to setup shortodes and stuff to emulate a unified dialplan and don't need to worry about a new user you setup in the systems.
Short of that you have to play around with the SIP settings on both systems to make them talk to each other and setup shortcodes to route calls in between them. Should work too but it is much more work for you, but cheaper. But if you spend 40 hours on it and need to troubleshoot and adjust all the time to keep it running then you might not have saved money at the end.

Thanks guys ...

traffic between the sites is next to nothing anyway - so it's no great loss - but just an annoyance and as I'd like to be able to play a bit more ....

yes - the BP did mention upgrading the 406v2 to R6 and getting a network licence ... but upgrading the 406 to R6 requires more licences for the existing IP phones ... and so the circle continues!
Plus the fact that the co won't pay for licences that doesn't show a positive ROI! pita when you're trying to expand your experience ..
