Link Pictures from folder so picture changes automatically updated

We need to create a database with names and pictures associated with the name but the pictures are frequently updated.
i.e. Pupils name & admin No Then a picture. in year 1
but the picture changes in year 2

i have tried to ole the picture and it just makes the file very very large and changing the picture does not change the picture in access.
On the database that we used to use you were able to change the picture on the server and as long as the filename was the same it would update the database the next time it was run and the size of the database was only very small.

Is there any way of doing a simalar thing in access.

Yes, using Linked OLE object instead of Embedded one.

Been here before.

I have a database that stores the file and path name and then displays the picture when you open the form. So long as the name is the same it will change the picture.

The file is at home so if your still stuck e mail on Friday and I will send you a copy
