Hi Guys,

Just have a question I hope someone here can answer as I have different people telling me different things. We are merging together with another college later this year to create one large college for our area. As such we will need to link together our telephone systems or install a whole new solution. In the short term I want to link our systems so we can direct dial extensions between sites, transfer calls etc. with a view to installing a new solution in the following year.

We currently have an LG-Nortel IPLDK-300 and the other college has a Meridian-Nortel CS1000 Option 61c. Can these two systems be linked so we can dial extensions etc. between sites? This will be via the new data circuit we will have between the two main sites, so both systems will be on the same LAN. Our system maintainer says yes they can and their system maintainer says no they can’t. So I am now stuck in the middle trying to get the correct answer and make a decision.

I also have a BCM50 on one of our smaller sites that I would also like to link up as well however this is not essential. I realise that voicemail and some other features will not be accessible between systems but all we need to do in the first instance is be able to direct dial extensions without having to use our outside lines which will incur charges. Over the next year we will then look to install a single system to cover all our sites.

Can anyone here help?

Many Thanks
Dan

all of these can be blended together via qsip pris or ip trunking (depending on rls and lic)..

usually for a bcm a simple pri with each station having a unique dn to allow voice mail with lamps works.. if neither of those is a workable solution, cheap and simple would be line side t1's used as tie trunks..

you may need to encrease the number of digits in one or both boxes to get them on a workable numbering plan..

another way is by dialing all 7 digits then using dgt prior to routing to the ties..
