We have a CS1000M Cabinet system (opt 11) on release 4.50W software. It is a three-cabinet system. We want to install a line side T1 (NT5D14) card in the system. Does it have to be on the main cabinet, or can it be on one of the expansion cabinets?
The NT5D11 lineside T1 Interface card is an intelligent 24-channel digital
line card that is used to connect the switch to T1 compatible terminal
equipment on the lineside. T1 compatible terminal equipment includes voice
mail systems, channel banks containing FXS cards, and key systems such as
the Nortel Norstar. The lineside T1 card differs from trunk T1 cards in that it
supports terminal equipment features such as hookflash, transfer, hold, and
conference.
This card occupies two card slots in the main or expansion cabinets. The
lineside T1 card can be installed in the system’s main cabinet or one of the
expansion cabinets (there are no limitations on the number of cards that can
be installed in the Cabinet system).

The Line Side T1 cards we use are NT5D11 cards, and they do not fit into the Opt. 11 style cabinet. I have several (30) RC that use the same style wall mount cabinet that an opt 11 uses. The card cage spacing is not the same in the UEM and in the wall style cabinets.
@TDMTek - if you go to the NTP I referenced, and look up, oh, 3 lines:
Introduction
This section describes the two lineside T1 interface cards:
• NT5D11 – applicable for Large Systems only
• NT5D14 – applicable for Small Systems only
Note: Unless otherwise stated, the information in this section applies to
both the NT5D11 and NT5D14 lineside T1 interface cards.
I just didn't feel it necessary to cut/paste the whole thing in order to give the OP the answer he needed...
Thanks all. We knew we had to use an NT5D14 and not a NT5D11. We also thought it didn't matter where we put it but could not find that info in NTPs to verify it. The site is 200 miles away so we thought we'd better find out before going there to install it.
