I have a problem with static and choppy audio files on a 81. If I call the hunt group the audio files play real choppy. If I dial the extension the files start to play fine then get choppy.

Also when I record a voice file all I get is static.

I have tried a seperate Dialogic card and get the same result.

What I am wondering is if there is a way to test the line coming out of the switch so that I can eliminate the Dialogic card as the suspect.

Any help will be more than greatly appreciated!

major problem to test the line side without using it as the central office and connecting it back to your switch.. doable if your used to that level of work around.. either that or connect it to a spare keysystem as a central office route.. what do you have as the link between the dialogic and the line side? i usually use a factory cat 5 patch.. choppy sounds like clipping, which would point to bandwidth.. 1.54 meg on a 100 meg cat 5 should be beyond clean..

it is a CAT5e cable and unfortunately i am trusting the tech onsite with what he says. Allegedly he switched out the cable with a different one to see if maybe it was a bad cable, but same result.

that's always a problem. i've never had a line side with that problem, i work in the switchroom so i would have swapped the line side by now.. being on a dial up is a great way to slow down the quick fix

Sounds like a T-1/DS-1 clocking issue. Make sure the equipment hosting the Dialogic cards is clocking off of the Line Side T-1. If it is free running, sometimes called internal clocking, you'll have frame slips on the T-1 and noticeable clips, pops, static, ...

FYI - I ended up switching the PCI slot the Dialogic board was in and the line noise issue went away.

Thanks for the help
