Line issue 1

Hello,

I am new to the Norstar system and have a question.

I have a 8x24 system system verison 30BwE02 NAT

With Lines:
001-0004
031-034
145-148
149-152
153-156

I have all the lines used up except for 153-156. I had the local phone company come in to bring in a new phone number. I have connected that line to pinout 17.

I have setup my phone to have lines 153-156. display on my phone, now when I call the new number I do not see it ring, nor can I press the button and get a tone.

I have copied the setting from line 147 to the lines 153-156.

What am I missing here? I know it is simple but as I said I am new to NorStar.

Nerver mind this, I have figured out, I punch down the cable that was connected to a card that was maxed. Switch it to the right location and now it is working!

It sounds to me that you are using the target line. Let me explain. On a norstar you have physical lines on the KSU. Which start with lines 1-8 then when you add a trunk module to expand past 8 lines the numbering changes according to where you slide your cards.

Now as you probably already know DID trunks have digits sent to you otherwise known in the Norstar world as Recieved Digits. These digits you recieved and are programmed into what we call Target lines. Picture imaginery lines that sole purpose in life is to capture the digits from the telco and direct them to a phone set who has that Target line assigned.

The bottom line is that the line number you are trying to use is a target line that is dedicated to only capture Recieved Digits, DID, not support a physical analog line.
