We purchased an OEM boxed version of Windows 2003 Server Enterprise with 25 CALS.

We have lost the box and it's contents and only have the cdrom and the paper jacket which contains the orange sticker with the 25 digit key.

If I was audited, is there a way I could prove the 25 CALS? Can that 25 digit number be traced back somehow to show the CALS?

thanks.

Generally, receipts and invoices will suffice. There are certain tools that will recover those product keys, should you ever need them again.

No, I have the product key. How do I prove I own 25 CALS that came with the box set?

Like Sniper said, find an invoice for the product. It should say what you purchased which would be "2003 Enterprise Server with 25 CALs" or something like that.

I have the receipt but all the words are shortened to fit the piece of paper. Any other ideas?

do you think microsoft would know that the 25 digit number is tied to the cals?

No, because if it is just CALs they'd have no way to look them up.
Heck, I dont think they can look up ANY license unless you put it on the EOpen site.

That's probably true. A full invoice is more than enough.
