Hi,

I've got 5 local desktops and 4 remote laptops. 3 of the desktops run w2000pro the other 2 run W98. All the laptops run w2000pro.

We want to install a w2000 server(looking ahead). All the desktops and laptops will require to run applications on the server using terminal services.

Question:

What server related licenses do I need and what is the cost?

Thanks,

John

Well T.S. Licensing has always confused me, but this is how I understand it. You will need 9 CALs (Client Access License). These are not Terminal Services Licenses, just regular user access licenses. I beleive you can get Win2000 with 10 user CAL, list price is about $1200, but you can find it cheaper. In addition to the 9 CALs, you will need 2 Terminal Services CALs for your 98 workstations. You might have to buy the TS CALS in a 5 pack @ $750. You'd probably be better off upgrading those PCs to 2000 or XP.
