Hi all,

I've got a weird problem. I'm running an IP Office 406v2 on 5.0.22. It has voicemail licenses running on a USB key with the feature key server installed. The feature key shows up correctly in the system tray.

Whenever I make a change to a setting that needs to be merged, the next time I login to the manager, the licenses show up as Invalid. I found that rebooting the PBX brings the licenses back to a Valid state.

It's kind of a hassle to have to reboot the PBX every time I have to make a setting that needs to be merged.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks!

You have the option to buy a serial dongle and swap those licenses to it.
No more hassle anymore with that usb dongle.

But something is blocking it for now.
Did something changed on the server ?

Nothing has changed on the server.

Here's an example: I tried adding a short code and when I saved the config, I selected merge. I logged in again and the licenses said Invalid. I rebooted the PBX and the licenses came back as Valid.

The dongle works fine and I'm not looking to swap it out.

It does not work fine otherwise you wouldn't need to reboot the ipo :-)

thanks for stating the obvious.

When the system cannot see the licence server this happens, upon reboot it appears valid as it hasn't had time to check, when looking after a merge it has checked and can't validate so shows as invalid. The server has probably done some updates and that may have broke it and updates often restart the windows firewall, make sure the firewall is off :-)

Yes, my customers say the same, something has always changed though, usually something they haven't realised or forgot, like a company wide IP address range change for example :-)

Seen that too.
Phones that where rebooted could not find the ipo anymore.

Mikeyzgcd, there must be something changed.
Check the updates or AV updates.
Did you recently upgrade to 5.0.22 ?

Like I said, nothing has changed.

The server is on a static IP and the license server is set to the server's IP.

Anything else you wanna know?

Did it do any updates ?
What app are running on it ?
Did you upgrade to 5.0.22 lately ?

short update to my post.

I've tried setting the License server IP to 255.255.255.255, but that didn't fix it. Still shows up as invalid. I'll reboot the pbx and it comes back as valid. I've checked in the afternoon and it's still valid. When I log in the next morning, it's invalid again.

Tried reinstalling the USB drivers (7.61) from the Sentinel website, but no luck. Turned off the firewall. Reinstalled the IP Office suite. No AV running. Forgot to mention the feature key server is running on Server 2k8 R2 x64 with latest windows updates. Could it be the OS?

Any other suggestions?

tried moving it, but didn't work.

Ya, we had it working on an old compaq running XP, but it was decommissioned. I'd like to get it working on our 2k8 server if at all possible. We were also considering setting up a VM with XP on it to see if that would work.

migrating to a serial would have taken a couple of days at most. I would forget troubleshooting and just do that. Why are you against it?

fo shizzle ma nizzle.

I never said I was against it! I just wanna get this working the way it should work.

I have seen a bunch of problems trying to use USB on a VM. most people go to serial to avoid these issues.
