License Logging Service hung - Need Fix!

The License Logging Service service hung on starting.

This is the eventlog message I get. The service is stuck on starting and I can't stop it.

Any Ideas how to get it working again. It was working yesterday, but after reboot today it hungs. After 2 more reboots today it still hangs. The only change made was new upgrade from symantec 8.0 to 9.0

I think that you should try rolling symantec back to version 8.0 and see if that does the trick (or if you have time - go over the symantec's page and see if they have anything on this issue). You should also try out

as that site has a lot of good information about Windows event log entries.

Yea can't find anything on symantecs site. Also nothing listed n event Id other then how to reset license info. This server is also our DC, so any help for anyone?

Fixed. Answer I reboot the both of the parent domain comtrolls and solved this issue.

You can also disable the license logging service. It is buggy, unnecessary, and going away in Longhorn Server. It is also disabled by default in Server 2003.
