Hi there,
I had the same problem on Sun Solaris 2.9. It turned out that I had a version of Unicenter SLM that I had previously installed on the server. Once I had removed it and reinstalled NSM all was ok. So I suppose the questions is, Do you have any other CA software running on the system that you are installing the agents on?

Makes you wish that CA would release a "LicenseIT Update" again :).

Actually go ahead and apply the License update from CA. I know it seems weird but for some reason some of the new patches that have been release for Unicenter appear to change the files just enough that it causes core functions of Unicenter not to activate.

After you run the latest license update from CA it fixes the issue.
