HI,

I've just bought some refurbed LG LDP7008D handsets but when I plug them into a port where an existing phone (same model) works then the replacements one's stick at a message that ends in "NO SYNC". The only thing that appears different on the display of the existing phone (before it says "OK SYNC" and then flicks to the normal extension display) is that the existing phones say that they are V1.4 on the top line and the replacements say they are V1.0A.

Is this a problem with incompatible firmware (in which case can the firmware be upgraded?) or are there any settings that can be applied to the phone to make it work or are they just totally incompatible?

Thanks

Hi there.
There can be some difference in the s/w of the ipLDK and the s/w of LDP handsets, but in most cases it will works.
E.g. ipLDK-24 ver. 1.0 cannot use LDP handsets, but only LKD handsets.
So to help you on this one:

Please post the following information.

Write the data on the label telling what system we are dealing with, and then...

-> I would like to have:
1. Make a [TRANS/PGM]+78 to see the licenses in your LDK. Just post what the display writes.
2. Make a [TRANS/PGM]+72 to see the s/w vesersion in your LDK. Just post what the display writes.
2. Write the names of the boards in the 1. and 2. cabinet and the SLOT position.
Thank you.

Hi Doktor,

Many thanks for you speedy response.

1. Make a [TRANS/PGM]+78 to see the licenses in your LDK. Just post what the display writes.
It displays PCK and if I press a key then I get :-
REV: 000DB1E805040603

2. Make a [TRANS/PGM]+72 to see the s/w vesersion in your LDK. Just post what the display writes.
It displays:
UK90P-3.8Bf Jul/08
United Kingdom 1 Rack

3. Write the names of the boards in the 1. and 2. cabinet and the SLOT position.
There is only a 1 cabinet, inside it there are (The 1st Column after the Slow number is what is written in the installers notes):
Slot 1: DT1B12 - GDK-100 DT1B12/24 REV .A 0309
Slot 2: DS1B - Can't read anything on the card itself
Slot 3: VOIB - GDK-100 DT1B12/24 REV .A W0709
Slot 4: VMIB - Can't read anything on the card itself
Slot 5: ST1B - LDK-300 AAIB/LDK-300 VMIB2 -- Chips say: LDK-300 VM1B GS30W-1.2A --- U1 (7608) -- U2 (57BF)
Slot 7: MISB - Can't read anything on the card itself

Thanks,

Robin

... Here some more speedy response...

You have installed on your site: One ipLDK-100 with one cabinet

Slot 1: DT1B12 - GDK-100 DT1B12/24 REV .A 0309 --> Gives you 12 digital phones LKD and LDP7xxx
Slot 2: DS1B - Can't read anything on the card itself --> Gives you 6 digital phones LKD and LDP7xxx and 6 analogue phones
Slot 3: VOIB - GDK-100 DT1B12/24 REV .A W0709 --> Gives you IP connection - trunk - to the outside world (?) or local network.
Slot 4: VMIB - LDK-300 AAIB/LDK-300 VMIB2 -- Chips say: LDK-300 VM1B GS30W-1.2A --- U1 (7608) -- U2 (57BF)--> Gives you voice mail for th local users.
Slot 5: STIB - Gives you ISDN connection to the outside world.
Slot 7: MISB - Miscellaneous board. Relays etc.

Your reported fault:
I guess that the handset is defective.
V1.0A is very old, but should work. I prefer V1.2A.-> V1.4A.

Hi Doktor,

Thanks once again for your very speedy response - especially for expandin on what each of the cards is for. Guess I'm unlucky with the handsets, I'll have to go track some more down!

Thanks again,

Robin

Yes, Robin. My statement about the defective handset is only right if another handset of the same type - using the same port in the ipLDK - is working allright.

Robin,

I've had that same problem recently, as the ipLDK is frequently being upgraded to iPECS systems there are a lot of import/export sales going on.

If you had a LDP working on a port, then your other refurbished LDP handsets aren't working you could have an imported unit or one which has had the internal boards swapped. I had this problem with some the other day.

Try using both line cords (the one that came with your refurb phone and the one with your original phone) - I find a Siemens line cord will work Swedish handsets from UK systems for example.

Gently does it. If gently doesn't do it, smash it with the hammer.
