LexMark Z45 Local Printer

Hello,
How does one find out if my Local Printer LexMark Z45 is capable of printing via a Citrix Session. My administrator is saying it is not supported, but I think he may be wrong.

- How does one find out if it is a supported printer on Citrix (any particular site on cyber where this info can be found?)
- What steps does our new Citrix Administrator have to follow to add the printer (and what Info. do I need to provide him).

Any information would be appreciated.

I am afraid your administrator is correct. I have heared nobody so far, who was able to get a Z series working on citrix as an autocreated printer.

Also, for LexMark X54, in the link, it is mapped to HP LaserJet 4. What does this mean? Does this mean your Local Printer should be called HP LaserJet 4 (even though it is a LexMark Driver and printer?). Don't quite understand.

No, it means when a client logs onto the Citrix Server with a client driver named "LexMark X54" a printer will be auto-created in their session using the driver "HP LaserJet 4".

As for your question:
How does one know which local printers are supported on Citrix?

Stefan (xs4citrix)is the author of printingsupport.com, and is an authority on which printers work on Citrix or not. These are know by what Citrix, Microsoft & Printer Manufacturers publish, along with our own testing.

Best to do some reading, so you have a good understanding of how the process works. I have plenty of materials here:

You sound like a persisting guy.

Ok, get a copy of the driver.cab and the ntprint.inf file from a win2k3 server. In there you will find the following Z series drivers:

"Lexmark Z11 Color Jetprinter"
"Lexmark Z12 Color Jetprinter"
"Lexmark Z22-Z32 Color Jetprinter"
"Lexmark Z31 Color Jetprinter"
"Lexmark Z42 Color Jetprinter"
"Lexmark Z51 Color Jetprinter"
"Lexmark Z52 Color Jetprinter"

Give them all a try, by installing them, and then map your Z45 to them, one at a time, via the wtsprnt.inf, or use CMC printermapping.
