Lenthy file upload - progress bar or similar

Hi folks,

I have a form submit that uploads a .gz file to the server. The problem is that the files can be quite large, so we need to have something to indicate to the user that it is still working.

I have tried using an animated .gif but it stops animating as soon as the upload commences.

Any help would be appreciated.
