lenght of DOS line

i don't how correct my quesions is but
how many characters can fit on a standard line
in a DOS environment?
I mean the DOS-prompt.

Approximately 127 characters for a true DOS command line. A Windows command window will be different.

Note that if you're calling another program and passing arguments to it, the path of the program counts away from your 127. So if you're running short on space, move your program to the root directory.
