A quick question. What is LDAP?

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. It is a method of interacting with a directory service like eDirectory, Active Directory, iPlanet, RH Directory Server, etc.

LDAP doesn't specify a database type, so it is not a directory by itself. A directory can be "LDAP-compatible", but saying "LDAP Directory" isn't quite right.
