Laying on face

I work with young children who love the usual characters,Shrek,Spiderman,rupert. And I was wondering how I could "lay" spidermans "skin" onto a picture of one of the childrens faces on a photo. Also if I was using shrek as a template for a face ,how could I "stretch" the childs face into shreks face.

If you are using PSP 9 (and maybe earlier versions) there is a clone brush that works wonders for melding pictures like that. you would have to open up both images (shreck and the childs) and set the clones refrence to somewhere in the middle of the face. Then paint on the image of shreck, starting about the middle of his face.

Alternatively, you can use multiple layers and layer masking to achieve the desired effect for both the shreck and spidey skin effects you are after.

As far as stretching the childs face to match the size of shrecks, I would stay away from any stretch and skewing. You can easily resize the image but keep the aspect ratio the same, otherwise the child might not recognize themselves.....

Another solution to the first part of your question would be to select a portion of spiderman's skin, copy and paste as a new image.

Use the point-to-point selection tool and select the area of the child's photo that you want to have "spiderskin" applied to, click on your color pallet, select patterns and your spiderskin new image should be one of the first ones in your box. Select it and then flood fill your selection with the pattern.

Morphing faces can be done easily with layers. Copy your Shrek face to a new layer on your child's photograph and use your deform tool to position it over the child's face, size it to the childs face and angle it to the child's face angle. Then go to your opacity and lower it until the child's facial features show through.

This sounds like a fun project!
