Layers of picture to a layer

You can put the pictures into one layer by Merging them.
Select one of the layers, then click in the blank square next to the eye icon in the layers palette (this links the two layers together--you should see a chain link icon in the square). With the layers now linked, go to Layers-->Merge Linked. This puts whatever is in the layers onto the same layer.
