Hi , I just discoverd the wonderfull world of layers.. This alone has solved most of my internet nightmares during the last year but can anyone tell me if I should go full force with this? are most browsers compatible? I just wonder before I get in to deep..

thanks

that is where a lot of the trouble in layers

in netscape accepts div/span/layer for layers

but ie only accepts div & span

in javascript when u have to call a layers all u have to do is document.layers['aboutus'].

and in IE you have to call
document.all['aboutus'].

where aboutus is a layer

1. Netscape doesn't accept scrolling text in layers (it just spans the text down the entire page.

2. If you wish to put text on the page or elements on the page itself in IE you can use z-index: -(number) and the layers will load below the main page text. In netscape it doesn't seem to work this way.

3. Netscape does some wierd text formatting when using layers. It will usually look different than what your dreamweaver layers look like.

IMHO, I think netscape 6 is better at handling layers but I doubt netscape 6 will ever attract enough attention to be used widely for some time. For now I am stuck with Tables and frames (pooh).

Best of luck with your layers B-)
