Can anyone tell me what they feel the advantages of a layered tiff file are as apposed to having a layered PSD file. Has any body had any experiences sending layered tiff files to vendors and did they have any trouble at the prepress stage when they were sent layered tiff files as support graphics.

I am using Photoshop 7 and was just trying to figure out the advantages or disadvantages of this new option.

Biggest problem from a prepress point of view is QuarkXPress. If you import a layered tiff, chances are you'll run into memory problems, no matter how much RAM/HD space you've got. When this issue was raised in a Quark forum a few months ago, a representative for the company claimed that Tiff files can't contain layers, so I guess they're not quite up to speed yet!
