We installed a new server, SCO 5.07 with a Digiboard for the serial devices. We have 5 printers 3 lasers and 2 matrix. They are hooked up directly to the Digiboard and are not running through the spooler. When we send a print job to the matrix printers they print immediatley, but when we send a job to the laser printers it takes about a minute before they print.

Our old server was running SCO 5.02 with a Digiboard and the lasers printed fine. We've checked the setup of both servers and can not find any difference. We've changed permissions, made sure the baud rates are the same and checked the inittab file.

Any suggestions??
Thanks

Are those laser printers now waiting for a final form feed character, not getting it after a timeout period and then kicking out the page?

I know you say the printers aren't using the spooler, and that shoots down a few theories, but perhpas you want to just try this anyway?

Create a 1-2 page file, make 2 copies, one with a Ctrl-L (formfeed) as the last line, one without. cat these files direct to the ports, and see if the file with the formfeed at the ends prints any faster?

Wish I had more insight here, just trying to brainstorm with the post.
