I have a winXP box at home, I noticed that spoolsv.exe is consuming 137 MB ram in my task manager/ processes. I have not printed anything for a week and have rebooted since my last printoff. Why is this memory use so high? Not causing a problem (yet) as I have plenty of memory to go around, but this is unusual. What is going on?

Take a look at and thread83-493948

Go to and run the free virus scan, it often picks up stuff norton and the like wont.

If you want any further assistance it would be helpful to download Hijack This from and creating a startup log in the Config Section and posting it here.

Thanx for the advice greg, I ran the AV scanner you advised and found my wifes temp folder had a JS.noclose, so, that is gone, but i am kinda confused as my ram call on the spoolsv reduced to 57 MB when I deleted it. Also, Hijack This led me to some stuff that I really do not need to run not associated with spoolsv, so I removed them. I also took the time to run a process tree identifier software before I used your advice, It found an unidentified module that was part of spoolsv, no name, PID, date modifiede or anything. Afer I removed several unneeded things and rebooted this seemed to go away. As of now the problem seems to be fixed. I will look over it for the next few to see what is going on. Thanx for the help!
