Large Message Rule

I have configured a rule in Outlook 2002 to move messages that are greater than 500kb to the large messages folder. This works perfectly for emails that are sent internally, but the rule is ignored for external emails. This is primarily to reduce synchronisation time when working offline but is also not working when online.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated...

If you run the rule manually does it work on external e-mails?

I have tried configuring this from 'message size limit' from within download options and also as a manual rule, but either way it ignores external mails.
