<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Systems Management Server 2.0 SP1 with 3 Hotfix Bundles seems to be working great on our LAN...or as good as I expect it to be.<br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We are now looking at expanding this support to dial-up laptop clients 33.6/56k through the internet using VPN or whatever other suggestions.<br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I have set up a test today to see what would happen if I installed the preinstall stuff and tried SMSMAN...well the expected happened...it could not find the sms server and therefor could not install the client.<br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We have been told about 3rd party software, but we are looking for a cheaper way of doing it. Try a software package called NetSupport Manager. We were having the same problem supporting clients on dial-up until we found this. All you need is the clients IP to connect to them and you then have full control of there PC.
 
you want to remote control a user over 56K WHY???????

the SMS client is designed so it will NOT install over 56k. it runs netspeed.exe and determines your speed before it installs.

Software/Hardware inventory as well as CCIM will slow the laptops down drastically over 56K.
