Hi all,

I am wanting to get an understanding of the requirements to install CS1000 systems (AACC, AVP, CP, etc.)and how this would be affected by a secure network enviroment. Here is a scenario;

Installer is supplied company laptop. Security policies will be excessive so only approved apps will install, web filtering etc. and not other devices will be permitted on the network. looking towards Win8.

Problems I see straight off the top are;

- No more Procomm / Aspect when Win8 is rolled out. (unsigned 16bit DLLs will not install and it is not legal software anyway)
- No VMware, unsecrue images will be blocked and win8 will not have a free XP licence
- no administrator access to the laptop
- No ability to disable or bypass firewall/AV (I couldn't even get Firefox to install in a test deployment)
- Can't edit system files like hosts to allow access to UCM

So what should be on the approved list? Putty, WinSCP. What is everyone using and what are the absoulute must haves on an installer's laptop?
I am looking at potential problems and solutions but not "I have a trusty XP lappy I use" as I want to be able to put a workable case to management on what is required to support this product in the future before they formulate the new security policies.

Cheers.
