Laptop-RAS-IIS(xml)-SQL Server works very slow

Here is the problem. We are using Laptop-Dial-Up-RAS Server-IIS(xml)-SQL Server communication to pass data back and forward. It works but works extremly slow. Using Laptop - IIS (xml)-SQL Server works perfectly. Investigation showed that passing data through modem happens quicky enough. At the same time, I am guessing that Dial_Up somehow locks IIS(xml) -SQLServer connection.
Did anybody have that kind of problem?

Any idea, guess, help will be highly appriciated!!!
