I have a Compaq laptop that is running XP Home. I was receiving an error message stating that there were errors with my ATI card. It brought me to an ATI location to download a new file. THe file took all day to download. Now what my laptop reboots to the XP Home Edition window then reboots again. This keeps happening over and over. I trie4d to go into Safe Mode to erase the ATI file that was downloaded but I cannot get into safe mode. It brings me to the safe mode choice page, I choose to go into SAfe mode, it runs the list of files by me but then gets to the AGP file, sits there then reboots. I also got to the page that shows the BIOS, the processor speed, the RAM. There is an error message that says "0210: Stuck Key". I cannot find any stuck keys on the keyboard. Also it has hit F10 to enter setup. When I do there is almost nothing in the setup. There are only three choices on top Main, BOOT, and Exit. Under each of these are very limited information. Under Main it only shows the time, date and password information.

Any ideas as to why I cannot get into Safe mode? And why there are few choices in the BIOS? Or how to find the "Stuck Key"?

Try booting into Safe Mode by either the Ctrl key or the F8 key. This will get you into the Startup menu. When in Safe Mode go to the Device Manager, find your buggy device, and remove the existing driver.Reboot and reinstall driver. Make very certain that the driver you have is for your OS and device model. If you have the original driver from the laptop manufacturer use that one.

Or...Use the same steps above and choose Last Known Good Configuration(from the Startup menu). This will revert to the last known good Registry setting saved.

Or...Use XP's native System Restore program which will also restore your system to a previous working state (Start\All programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore)

Get some compressed canned air and blow out your keys. You may have gotten your cookie crumbs in there.Or a bad key...

Just some suggestions...Good luck!
