Hello.

I recently bought a Sony Vaio VGN-AR520E Laptop which came with Windows Vista installed. I hate Vista, so I reformatted with Windows XP SP2.

Since reformatting, a few things have stopped working correctly on my laptop. I am unable to update my video card drivers, as it tells me that setup could not locate drivers that are compatible with my hardware and then forces me to exit (the drivers I am trying to install are 100% the correct ones). The eject button on my computer does not eject the disk drive and i have to manually eject disks from my computer. Also, when i attempt to use my webcam, it tells me that the device is being used by another program.

I have tried ending all processes, installing the updated drivers, but neither of these have worked. I appreciate any help.

Thank you.

The thing that I've always found to be problematic with Sony machines, especially their laptops, is that they are heavily proprietary. They are usually designed only to run the OS that is installed, and even though some components may sound like they're made with common components (video chipsets, mainboard chipsets, etc), I find that they're usually implemented by Sony in such a way that drivers that aren't Sony-specific won't work.
