Laptop Graphics Card/External Monitor Question

I have friend with a Dell Latitude D630 that has an nVidia Quadro FX 360M (which I don't believe has the ability for "dual" capabilities). He insists that with the right cables, he can have two external monitors going at once while connected to his laptop, provided that he has it docked (there is 1 VGA port and 1 DVI port on back of the port replicator). I explained to him that unless the graphics card is a dual graphics card, the best he can do it have ONE external monitor going along with the LCD on his LAPTOP, not 2 external monitors.

Is this true?

sounds strange! here is the solution...

there are docking stations that have a build in graphics card, which will get you the external dual monitor...

Hook up both monitors and give it a try to see what happens. Most modern video chipsets support multi-monitor. Many laptops do support this functionality. At the very least you can open the laptop screen while it's docked and use that with an external monitor. I haven't seen a laptop in years that didn't work that way. But if your docking station has two outputs you may be able to use both.
