Laptop freezes...

I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop, w/a 2.4 Ghz Celeron processor and 512mb ram.
At first, the cpu would freeze after inserting a disc. The cursor stops and the fan kicks in. Now, at least once a day, it will freeze while on the internet!
I've run Adaware, Spybot, & Norton Anti-virus--all to no avail...don't know what could be causing this.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
