I forgot to ask if Laptop Computers are harder to work on than desktop computers? I've never had a Laptop, but was thinking of buying me on in the future.

Except for replacing the hard drive, and adding memory, there isn't much you can do. Some cases are glued and CAN'T be opened.

And some that are screwed together have the screws so well hidden that you need a studfinder to locate them.
Then there is the interlocking plastic on the case that breaks if you go the wrong way.
They can be a real PITA. Stay away unless you're into S&M.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

You can swap optical drives, graphics cards and miniPCI cards on some. Check that you can download a manual for disassembly before deciding which one to buy. Prices are pretty extortionate for parts (from most manufacturers), so get a long warranty. New spares for some makes are available at a reasonable price - if you know where to look!
